Laser Hair Removal

The FDA has approved all of the laser systems we use for the permanent reduction of unwanted or excess hair on the face and body.   It is safe and effective for all skin types including Asian, African-American and even tanned skin.  Our laser system generates intense, long-pulsed light through an actively-cooled hand-piece, which effectively disables unwanted pigmented hair follicles, thus impairing their growth. Several treatments are usually necessary for the desired result.

Time that used to set aside for shaving, plucking, bleaching or using chemical hair removal agents.   A personalized physician-patient schedule allows for a focused appointment with very little waiting. Who can be treated?

Men and women of any age who wish to improve their skin can be treated. Skin which is lax, has surface wrinkles, redness, brown spots, or enlarged pores are the most common conditions to treat.

What areas can be treated?

The most popular areas for treatment are the face and neck, but other body parts such as the hands, arms and abdomen, are also frequently treated.

What do the treatments feel like?

Photo Genesis deliver a series of pulses of light. When each pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation.

Laser Genesis treatments are gentle and soothing. During the session you will feel a series of warm pulses along your skin.

With each pulse, you will first feel cool, then a brief heating sensation followed by a cool feeling. Most patients are comfortable without taking any medication; a few prefer taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Consult with your treating practitioner for more information.

How many treatments will I need?

Each treatment regimen is different and customized to an individual patient’s needs. Most patients can expect between 2 and 6 treatments.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effect is a slight redness or mild swelling in the treated area that disappears within a few hours.

When will I see results?

Immediate results are observed by some patients. More typically, you will see results in two to four weeks and improvements will continue for several months.

How does Skin Rejuvenation compare with other laser treatments?

What does the LimeLight treatment do?

The Limelight is one of the most effective lasers to treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. We have found it to be superior to other IPL based treatments out there, but as with many treatments, the skill of the technician, and settings set for the session, will greatly affect results. Our skin management experts are known for their exceptional results from their years of experience in the field, but also their combinations of treatments with other lasers.!

What areas can be treated by LimeLight?

The Limelight is ideal for treating any area of the face or body that has redness, telangiactasias (tiny veins) or brown spots. Some of the most popular areas for treatment are the face, neck, decollete (upper chest) and hands. However, many people also treat their arms, legs and upper back. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to this treatment.

What do the LimeLight treatments feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered during your LimeLight treatment, you may experience a mild stinging sensation. Gel is usually used during the treatment to cool the skin and make the LimeLight more comfortable.

How many LimeLight treatments will I need?

We recommend a series of 4 treatments for best results. Treatments are scheduled 3-4 weeks apart. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun damaged skin.

What happens after the LimeLight treatments?

Immediately following each treatment, brown spots may start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen for a few hours or even for a day. Over the next 7-10 days immediately after the treatment, the brown spots may slough or peel. Make-up may be worn immediately after treatments, so the redness is usually easy to cover, and there is no social downtime to this treatment.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?

New brown spots, small veins and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage, however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize the appearance of new damage. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be "cured" with any laser or light source, however its appearance will be much improved and managed.
